SS-2000 SIGNATURE BI-WIRE
The State of the Art Bi-wire Cable
Hard to believe but we have developed a new Bi-wire speaker cable that is significantly better than our prior top of the line SS-1000 Bi-wire MK II. Named the SS-2000 Bi-wire Signature, the cable exceeds all expectations we had hoped for during its development!! To say that the SS-2000 Bi-wire Signature exceeds the performance of the SS-1000 MK II model is quite a statement considering that the SS-1000 MK II version has been hailed by people in many parts of the world as the best they have experienced. We expect we will get a lot of e-mail from people asking in what way the new model is superior.
While the performance is improved virtually overall, the most prevalent improvements are in dynamics, focus, inner detail, and harmonic accuracy – and most important, it is enjoyably musical! These improvements are attributable to design/construction changes.
The copper used in this cable is Single Crystal Continuous Cast Copper. It has unique physical and chemical properties, such as considerably longer granules with absolute absence of gaseous impurities such as oxygen, carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen. It is free from impurities (up to 99.99998% pure copper). It is far better than continuous cast Oxygen Free High Conductivity wire (OFHC). Our Silverfuse production process is also repeated here and enhanced with Deep Emersion Cryogenic Processing. All of these features make the pure SCCC/Silverfuse Premium copper the state-of-the art conductor material for this cable. We have named these conductors Silverfuse Premium; a step above our regular Silverfuse conductors used in most of our other cables.
There are additional design and construction improvements; one most important one concerns the weaving geometry. We are now using a planetary cabler for this step. This weaving machine, which allows engineers more freedom in designing more complex and more effective weaving geometries, also produces a much more accurate and consistent weaving geometry. Accuracy and consistency from foot to foot is essential to replicate and realize the benefits of the theoretical “on paper” design. The process is much more labor intensive, primarily in the set up for the production run, and in monitoring during the run. Consequently, it is more expensive to produce.
Along with the improved weaving geometry, there are multiple layers of shielding material providing for the equivalent of 260% shielding coverage. The interior of the cable is polypropylene-filled, and in conjunction with the polypropylene, contains an anti-static, barrier. This provides for very effective isolation of the conductors and elimination of RF, EMI disturbances.
Unlike some other manufacturers, we designed our cable to be a true Bi-wire. That is, there are four wires inside the sheath covering the internal wires. Some manufacturers will take their two wire cable and split the ends at the speaker end to come up with four connections. This configuration results in a compromise of performance. This is because the 2 wire cable was not designed to be a four wire Bi-wire cable. We suggest caution with whomever you plan to buy a Bi-wire cable. Check with the manufacturer before you buy!
Additionally, we use PTFE Teflon in most all of our cables; however, the insulation we are using for this new cable, while it is purchased as PTFE Teflon, we are modifying it during the wire manufacturing process. Again, a little more costly. Our modification to the PTFE Teflon insulation allows for substantial reduction of the signal discharge back into the metal conductor. Explanation: All insulations covering a metal wire will absorb a portion of the signal as it flows through the metal wire. That signal will discharge back into the metal wire, although it is delayed by a small fraction of time. This discharge back smears the real time current wave form that is passing through resulting in small but discernable distortion. After all steps in its construction are completed the wire is also subjected to Deep Cryogenic Processing.
EXPLANATION OF OUR PROPRIETARY SILVERFUSE CONDUCTOR MATERIAL: Silverfuse is a near alloy of silver and copper. The copper used in this process is Single Crystal Continuous Cast Copper. IT IS NOT SILVER PLATED. Silver plating causes a dioding effect when signal is passed through resulting in brightness and distortion. Because silver plating has a bad reputation, some manufacturers try to disguise the fact by calling it silver coated, silver clad or silver/copper hybrid. But they are all silver plated. Our Silverfuse process starts with Single Crystal Continuous Cast Copper wire with a diameter that is slightly larger than the required size. It is then pulled through a trough of molten silver. The wire with a silver deposit is then forced through a compacting process where it is subject to tremendous pressure. The silver and the copper are fused together into a near alloy. The compacting fusion also reduces the wire diameter to the desired size. No dioding subsequently occurs with this process. The result provides for the benefits of silver; which are excellent definition and clarity, with the high purity copper benefits of warmth and mellowness. (Incidentally, pure silver wire also causes brightness)
We are pleased that we have achieved our development goals and are providing additional increments of performance improvement to enthusiasts and hope they will take advantage of our 45 day trial period. Call if you have any questions. 800 321 2108. We know of no other speaker cable manufacturer that includes a shielding system in their speaker cables. Noise that you never realized was there disappears yielding a dead quiet background. We have also included a heavy-duty outer jacket to protect the interior and to also prevent against sharp bending of the cable. We have found that cables that do not have this additional protection, if bent too sharply, can be susceptible to sustaining small fissures (cracks) in the conductor which, over a period of time; degrade the performance of the cable. This is one of the reasons that used cable gets into the used cable market. Performance has deteriorated and usually the former owner does not realize why. This is especially true of cables that use a mesh cloth as their only outer protection. (Mesh cloth outer coverings are a sign of a hand made cable. see our Cable Hype page concerning the problems with hand made cables).
Our prices include a variety of connectors of your choice.
. see our Cable Hype page concerning the problems with hand made cables).
Our prices include preparation with top quality gold-plated connectors of your choice. IMPORTANT: When selecting connectors below, bear in mind that normally, a Bi-wire cable is made with two connectors on the amplifier side and four connectors on the speaker side (when talking about one side, left side speaker or right side speaker). However, occasionally a customer will need four connectors on both amp and speaker sides because they are going to Bi-amp not Bi-wire. If you need a Bi-amp set up, select the Amplifier Side Connector option of 4 per channel. If you are considering spades, Please note, our spades are Universal; they fit posts from 4/16" to 5/16" (6 millimeters to 8 millimeters) which accommodates virtually all speakers and amps.
